Beacon Pines is a unique narrative adventure that places you inside a mysterious, living book. You step into the shoes of both the reader and the main character, Luka. Something strange is happening at the old town warehouse, and the adults are turning a blind eye. You must sneak out late, explore the town, and make new friends to uncover the town secrets. The core gameplay loop revolves around finding special golden charms hidden throughout the world.
These golden charms are the true hook of the experience. Each charm has a specific word engraved on it. When you reach a turning point in the story, you can use a charm to fill in a blank word and completely change the course of events. If a choice leads to disaster, you simply open The Chronicle, an interactive story tree, and jump back to a previous chapter. You can then use newly discovered words to unlock entirely different versions of the story and solve the overarching mystery.
