Survival games are a subgenre of video games in which the player must survive and thrive against a wide variety of challenges. Many survival games take place in natural, realistic environments, or even an unreal world, post apocalyptic world after a zombie outbreak, which means that the player must use his or her wits to get through the game.
Typical survival game can involve anything from fighting zombie to building shelter; from solving puzzles to weapon craft. These games are usually pretty simple to master, and offer a lot of excitement and challenge.
Survival games, however, involve a bit of a twist. Typically, survival games offer players one resource - food. As time passes in the game, this resource will become scarce and the player must make a survival instinct about where to spend it. For example, they could spend it on tools to build more houses or food to increase their chances of survival.
Survival games are not for the faint of heart. You have to be pretty tough in order to survive. The beauty of survival games is that, with a bit of effort, you can actually survive in them. It's not enough to simply eat and drink every day. You have to be vigilant – sometimes you have to travel far to find food and shelter, you have to hunt for animals for meat, and you have to keep a close eye on monsters or creatures or the zombie horde.
There are a variety of survival games, each with its own survival mechanics. They all have the same key ingredients: a story, setting, and a unique way of playing out the story. Sometimes, these games are played in real-time. Other times, these games can take place in real-world locations. They can be as simple as having one player and the other players can manipulate their actions, or something as complicated as a massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Some survival games have no story at all; these are called sandbox games and are often used for a completely open-ended experience in survival mode.
Survival games are popular with many generations of people and they're easy to learn and play. They are often very immersive, so you'll be able to immerse yourself into the genre and become a real survivor. If you're ready for a survival challenge, then play survival games!
